Fox News Links OK Murder To Abortion and Facebook

by Lane Florsheim

Christopher Lane, an Australian baseball player visiting his girlfriend and her family in the town of Duncan, Oklahoma was shot and killed by three teenagers who were "bored" and decided to kill someone for fun, according to police. Now, a Fox News contributor said the three teenagers committed murder because of abortion and Facebook. Obviously.

On Tuesday, prosecutors charged the teenagers who are allegedly responsible for 22-year-old Lane's death. Sixteen-year-old Chancey Allen Luna and 15-year-old James Francis Edwards Jr. face first degree murder charges, and 17-year-old Michael Dewayne Jones was charged with acting as an accessory.

Conservative media took to Twitter to pressure Obama to make a statement on the case, drawing comparisons between Lane and Trayvon Martin's deaths. Fox News contributor Keith Ablow went a step further, bizarrely suggesting the three teens allegedly committed murder because of our country's disrespect for life and dependency on social media, as well as the legality of third-term abortions in certain states.

It's too absurd for words. Take a gander:

We have people on SecondLife.com simply adopting new identities and so we have a culture that is cheapening life, real life. And if in general, if you can’t outlaw third trimester abortions in every state, then you have part of the answer to why people don’t take life that seriously... Facebook is the final common pathway for those people who are acting out in life and some of the people who are there are acting out their sexuality, other people are acting out how happy they are by posting all of these ridiculous pictures, where one is competing against the other to seem more content. But Facebook has become ground zero in the battle to either maintain our identities or to let them go into the web and these three became non people with no feelings for others and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were big users of Facebook and other things Internet-related.
