Toms Winter Boots Put Uggs to Shame

by Erin Mayer

Confession: I've never owned a pair of Toms. I know they're supposed to be comfy and all about saving the world, but I don't really like the traditional style and so they've never found their way into my closet. However, I'm pumped about the new line of Toms winter boots. They are sleek and versatile and everything that Uggs want to be but totally aren't.

This is the brand's first foray into winter footwear and now seems as good a time as any to expand beyond the canvas espadrilles Toms is famous for producing. According to Fashion Beans, Toms will "continue its sell-one donate-one strategy with a collection of hi-top and chukka boots in full grain leather and canvas twill." Some of the styles are already available online. I'm already fantasizing about how great they'll look with cuffed skinny jeans.

Despite not being lined with hideous shearling, the Toms boots are designed to retain warmth. Fashion Beans reports that the chukka boot "features a thermoplastic outsole, ventilated, moulded footbed, flannel lining and heel pull tab" while the Searcher boot "carries the same specifications with added tongue gussets." Both styles are available in leather and fabric. This is definitely big news for any Toms lovers who want to show their support for the brand during the colder months!
