Chris Hemsworth's Gettin' Haunted By Hank Williams

by Alanna Bennett

It looks like both the Odinson-Laufeyson brothers are both starring in Hank Williams-inspired movies this year. Unfortunately for all, they are not the same Hank Williams movie. Unfortunately for all, they do not involve both parties continuing to sing for our pleasure. But one does carry over the guilt Chris Hemsworth characters often feel for Tom Hiddleston characters so...bonus, I guess? Basically, Hemsworth just got cast as a person being haunted by Williams' ghost. Should be a fun time regardless.

The movie in question is not a weird turn in I Saw The Light the Williams biopic Hiddleston is starring in and which recently drove him to delight us with his country music abilities. This one is the much darker-sounding I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive (cheery!), in which Hemsworth will play Doc Ebersole, the dude who gave Williams his last, fatal dose of morphine and who's having some trouble coping with his role in the country legend's death. In fact, he's all drugged-out over it, and literally haunted by Williams' ghost.

That's not where the weirdness stops, either. From the synopsis:

When Graciela, a young Mexican immigrant, appears in the neighborhood in search of Doc’s services, miraculous things begin to happen. Graciela sustains a wound on her wrist that never heals, yet she heals others with the touch of her hand. Everyone she meets is transformed for the better, except, maybe, for Hank’s angry ghost — who isn’t at all pleased to see Doc doing well.

O....K? Vengeful ghosts, healing hands, and country music. Sounds like an experience.

Let us also never forget that this will not be the first time Hemsworth has had to deal with a dead Tom Hiddleston.
