7 Times 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' Wore the Wrong Thing at the Wrong Time

Anyone who's watched even a few episodes of The Real Housewives of New Jersey knows that its stars often say or do the wrong thing at the wrong time. But just as often, they wear the wrong thing at the wrong time. Eyeshadow at the pool, stilettos on a camping trip, satin…. ever. All not just crimes against good taste, but against plain old good sense. It's a pretty good collection of what not to do.

So keep in mind every time you're tempted to bare some cleavage in a snowstorm or get a blowout right before you head to the spa, WWTGW — that is, What Would Teresa Giudice Wear? — and put on the exact opposite. You'll thank me later.

Stilettos on Ice

At the Season 6 opener First Responder party, Dina and Melissa was the only ones who dressed in sensible pants and flat boots. The rest of the ladies were forced to totter on stilettos down the icy sidewalk in order to get to the party.

Safari at a Tea Party

Late in Season 4, the Housewives took a break from complaining about Melissa to attend Caroline’s brother’s wedding. Meant to be inspired by the Royal Wedding, English tea parties, and refinement, instead Jacqueline and Teresa showed up in animal print maxi dresses, floppy fascinators, and tons of body shimmer. Not exactly Queen Liz approved.

Bindis at a Solstice Party

When Teresa and Melissa got into it in the parking lot of the Solstice party, one glaring distraction was the bindis that both ladies were sporting, despite the solstice theme having no connection to Indian, Southeast Asian, or Hindu culture. Cultural appropriation — easily one of worst fashion faux pas committed by the ladies.

Mini Skirts in a Blizzard

This past winter kicked the crap out of the East Coast, and yet Nicole and Teresa insist on wearing miniskirts and heels to a friendly dinner party in New York City. Rino must have cranked up the heat at Angelo’s, because otherwise his wife and sister-in-law would have been freezing. Are these women allergic to sleeves??

Bedazzled Bikini in a Wetsuit

Melissa never passes up a chance to be glamorous, including when on the beach. That’s fair when in Cabo or down in Miami, but those rhinestones must hurt when laying belly down and paddling on a surfboard in California.

Atlantic City at a Dinner Party

Even Teresa Giudice thought this backless top was inappropriate for a casual dinner party. She called it “a little boardwalk,” and even though her dislike of Melissa probably inspired the comment, it’s true.

The Entire Season 2 Christening

Obviously the biggest disaster at the christening was the huge brawl that broke out. But you normally don’t see shiny purple dress shirts or such flashy dresses at a Catholic christening. While it is a dressy event, it’s also usually a pretty conservative affair. Of course, the RHONJ probably couldn’t be conservative if they tried. But isn’t that one of the many reasons that we love them?
