Legendary Director Loves 'Trapped in the Closet'

There's not much to say about this news, other than that it's incredible, and the best news ever heard about Francis Ford Coppola in the history of news about Francis Ford Coppola. That's all. So, I'll just get right to it: Coppola actually watched all of R. Kelly's 33-chapter hip-hopera masterpiece Trapped in the Closet, and he legit loved it. This is a project that utilizes a dude being a little person as a surprise plot twist, and Francis Ford Coppola, director of The Godfather trilogy, called it "incredible."

No words.

This little gem of a fact was revealed by Phoenix vocalist Thomas Mars (who is married to Coppola's daughter, Sofia Coppola), during a joint interview with Pitchfork alongside R. Kelly himself. This is what Mars had to say:

Pitchfork: Thomas, how long have you been an R. Kelly fan?TM: I remember being in my apartment in Paris and watching “Trapped in the Closet”– it was the best TV experience of my life. It just came out of nowhere. I’d never seen anything like it before. I watched it again and again. I remember dreaming about the water drop– it stayed with me for a while. I watched it with my father-in-law [Francis Ford Coppola] once and I remember him sitting there in silence for 10 minutes and then saying, “This is incredible.”

That Horse ebooks tweet, "everything happens so much," has never been more appropriate.
