Justin Timberlake Won the VMAS in All the Ways

Justin Timberlake's been playing the Hollywood game for approximately two-thirds of his life at this point, so we shouldn't be surprised when he pulls a Beyoncé and reminds us that he rules the place.

But remind us he did at Sunday's VMAs, during which he was not only honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, but also took home the biggest award of the night. Timberlake walked away with the Video of the Year award, presented by Joseph Gordon-Levitt (taking the stage with a bizarre Don Jon accent). The singer won the award for "Mirrors," which — if you haven't seen the video — involves several minutes of old people and then some fun-house dancing.

In his speech, Timberlake reminded us that not only is he the reigning king of pop, but he's also a magnanimous soul: He gave a shout-out to the others nominated in the category, which included Macklemore and Ryan Lewis for "Thrift Shop," Bruno Mars for "Locked Out of Heaven" (which won Best Male Video earlier in the night), Robin Thicke feat. T.I. and Pharrell for "Blurred Lines," and Taylor Swift for "I Knew You Were Trouble."

It was a very male-dominated category for this year's VMAs, with Swift as the only female in the category. (I guess this is what happens when Beyoncé doesn't have any new music released.) Let that say what it will about the music industry as a whole, and the VMAs in particular.

It may not have been a good night for the ladies, but it certainly was for Justin: Not only did he win a lot of awards, he didn't even have to grind up against Robin Thicke!
