More Details on Alex Wang x H&M Have Been Released

by Erin Mayer

November 8th is drawing closer, which means the Alexander Wang x H&M collaboration is finally on the horizon! This is great news for fans of the designer, who have only been waiting since, oh, April to see what the offerings will look like. I have some great news for those who want to start planning their wish lists — Alexander Wang's H&M ads have been released!

The campaign, shot by photographer Mikael Jansson, features soccer player Andy Carroll and kickboxer Rivaldino dos Santos alongside Joan Smalls, Raquel Zimmerman, Isabeli Fontana, and Natasha Poly modeling Wang's lower-priced sports-influenced wares while holding various pieces of athletic paraphernalia (boxing gloves, soccer balls, hockey sticks). Picture the cool downtown vibe of a Wang runway collection, distilled down to it's very essence.

Wang told WWD, "We wanted to take certain elements of each sport and portray the ultimate warrior. The girls had to feel big and heroic, and Mikael used sunlight glares to heighten that effect against a stark white backdrop.” The results are stark and severe images that somehow manage not to distract from the wearability of the clothing. And wearable it certainly is, with mesh tops, Wang-ified leggings, and a sporty body con dress that's sure to sell out within an hour

This collab is very much in line with Wang's signature athletic-inspired aesthetic. For Spring 2015, the designer sent to-die-for sneaker dresses and purses down the runway, making It girls everywhere long to dress exactly like Nike running shoes from head to toe. His H&M collection takes performance gear to a high fashion level, offering a taste of classic Wang for customers on a tighter budget.

Although his collection isn't about rehashing classics at a lower price point, there will be at least one traditional Wang must-have among the goodies at H&M this fall. According to Fashionista, Wang's H&M collaboration will feature a reworked version of the "Freja" — you know, the open-toed fold over booties that were everywhere for awhile — available for only $199. Now that's a bargain.

Get ready to dress like a hip sports warrior this holiday season!
