Watch Katie Holmes Karaoke With Colin Powell

by Rachel Simon

Remember when Katie Holmes married Tom Cruise, and everyone thought it was the strangest thing ever, but once they got divorced last year, we all hoped her life would go back to normal? Well, things have certainly been much quieter for Holmes since the breakup, but maybe her definition of normal is different than ours. On Saturday, Holmes attended billionaire Ron Perleman's Apollo in the Hamptons, and was seen doing karaoke alongside... wait for it.... Ellen DeGeneres, Lenny Kravitz, Pharrell Williams, Jamie Foxx, and former Secretary of State Colin Powell. Because, why not?

The eclectic but amazing group karaoked to Daft Punk's hit "Get Lucky," with Foxx and Williams (and occasionally Powell!) leading the singing and the rest of the group dancing along in the background. Holmes, who started out the song with some awkward Taylor Swift arm-dancing, quickly got into the beat, and seemed to be having a genuinely great time.

If you're wondering how the newly formed supergroup came together, you're not alone. According to the New York Post, Holmes and Foxx have been friends for years, but there's no word on if the others had been previously acquainted. Maybe it was just the magnetic pull of "Get Lucky" that brought them together for the first time — we all know how irresistible that song is.

The group above may have been having the most fun out of anyone at the benefit, but with attendees that included Richard Gere, Jon Bon Jovi, Alicia Keys, the Roots, Matt Lauer and Harvey Weinstein, you can bet the rest of the party wasn't exactly a bore. Still, it's Holmes' attendance — and dance moves — that caught out attention.

Since leaving Cruise and gaining primary custody of their daughter, Suri, Holmes has rarely been spotted out alone or with friends. While we assumed she wasn't spending every waking minute with Suri, it's nice to see her hanging out and having fun with adults her own age, especially ones as cool as Foxx and DeGeneres. According to the Post, Holmes was heard saying, “I haven’t had such a good time in so long" on Saturday night, and so we can only hope there's another star-studded karaoke performance in her future.
