She Wants a Jay & Blue Ivy One Day, Too

by Georgette Eva

Nicki Minaj and I have something in common. No, no, it isn’t that we can both flawlessly rap “Super Bass” in the shower or have an affinity for candy floss wigs — though we are eerily similar in that way too. What I'm talking about is that, apparently, we both find the Carter family inspiring. In an interview with L'Uomo Vogue Nicki Minaj said she had a change of heart on the whole kids front after watching Beyoncé and Jay Z with Blue Ivy.

"Seeing Beyoncé with her daughter and husband was so tender, and it showed me that it is possible to be an animal on stage and a caring mother at the same time," the rapper and cover model told the magazine. Minaj spent some time with the Carters in Paris while working on that surprise duet with Bey.

So, if you cried at the end of Beyoncé and Jay Z’s On the Run tour’s HBO special, you don’t need to feel alone. And for those of you who didn’t and would mock me for having done so, I ask, "How could you not after watching Jay Z crawl on the floor with adorable Blue Ivy?!" In all seriousness, I have to admit that after watching their home videos, Jay and Blue were the background on my phone for a week, because even though babies and their tininess sort of frighten me — along with all of the pregnancy and responsibility — something struck me as I watched Carter family time. I can only imagine that this is how the Grinch felt when his heart grew three sizes that day. Maybe Minaj felt it too.

I mean, don't Jay Z and Blue Ivy's adorable daddy and daughter moments bring a tear to your eye?

What about Queen Bey kissing her baby's hand?

Pffft. Even if Blue Ivy, in kid-like fashion, is distracted by a leaf, I can see why watching this family would make Minaj want one of her own some day. I'm pretty sure I felt my ovaries cry out when I saw Blue Ivy watch her mom at the VMAs.

"Family has always been very important to me, and that is why I want to wait until the right moment before starting my own," Minaj explained. "Right now I am too busy, but at a certain point the situation will change."

Well, whenever that day comes, I, for one, can't wait for the family home videos during Minaj's concert performance.
