Proof These Two Are The Same People

by Rosie Narasaki

"In an old house in Paris, that was covered with vines, lived 12 little girls in two straight lines.... The smallest one was Madeline." Those sure are some nostalgia-inducing words, aren't they? It brings me back — when I was a little girl, I really looked up to Madeline: I wanted to be the girl who was gutsy enough to roar back at a tiger, daring enough to fall straight into the Seine, bold enough to stand out from the pack.... I think Madeline holds a special place in all of our hearts — she certainly does in mine.

Anyway, I was looking at Emma Stone's recent outfits (she's busy promoting both The Birdman and Cabaret — ooh, if you haven't seen the promo images yet, you must take a look), and I had an epiphany: Emma is basically grown-up Madeline! From the Parisian-esque coats she so favors, to the Peter Pan collars that seem to be her signature, to her infamous, often red (not to mention, newly bobbed) hair, she's got the look down pat. All she needs now are a Miss Clavel, a Pepito, and a Genevieve! Let's take a look at some of her most Madeline-esque outfits over the years:
