Chris Pratt's Pretty Psyched About 'Guardians'

by Alanna Bennett

It was just a few months back that Chris Pratt revealed his newly re-buffed body to the world. The actor's purpose for re-buffing was/is preparation for Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel's 2014 film. And now that the film's actually filming? Talking abou the project, Pratt sounds like he couldn't be much more psyched than he already is.

In fact, Pratt's kind of hoping they make nine more Guardians movies after the first one. "I sure hope it does [reach Avengers success levels]," Pratt told IGN in a recent interview. "Because I've never done anything like it. I hope they make ten of them."

Pratt, who currently plays lovable doof Andy Dwyer in NBC's Parks and Recreation, has quite a lot on his plate at the moment: He's flying back and forth between Guardians' London set and Parks and Rec's Los Angeles one, and he and wife Anna Faris have a baby at home.

Regardless of the busy schedule, though, Pratt's having a blast:

It’s been really great. It’s hard to even put into words, especially for someone like me who has the vocabulary of a sixth-grader. It’s been a real trip. There’s a lot of super talented people working on it - artists. ... We’re working really hard and I’m in a bit of a daze, but I just can’t wait for people to see what we’re doing out there. I think that footage they showed at Comic-Con is very accurate to the movie that we’re making. I thought that footage was pretty badass.

Guardians of the Galaxy is part of Marvel's "Phase Two," which also includes the upcoming Thor: The Dark World, last spring's Iron Man 3, as well as Captain America: The Winter Soldier (out in April), and The Avengers: Age of Ultron (out in 2015). And while Guardians is the only one of the bunch not a sequel—therefore leaving us without as solid of a base to see where Marvel's heading with this—Pratt at the very least is raving.

It’s so imaginative and so unreal. ... I don’t know what to say about it other than it might be — oh! It’s the greatest movie of the 21st century! That’s what I’ll say. It’ll be the Citizen Kane of movies other than Citizen Kane.

The film co-stars Star Trek's Zoe Saldana, Pushing Daisies' Lee Pace, and Doctor Who's Karen Gillan, who shaved her head for the role. It was also recently announced that Bradley Cooper will be voicing the character Rocket Raccoon.

There are two things we're certain about Guardians of the Galaxy so far: That there will be a lot of aliens, and that we're very, very happy that it won't mean less Andy Dwyer in Pawnee.
