5 Fantastic Food Blogs You May Not Know

by Carrie Murphy

I don't know if personal food blogs have had their moment or not, but I still read them obsessively, mainly because I love learning new recipes while also getting to know a fun online personality. (For the record, fashion blogs? MOMENT OVER. Sorry, Sea of Shoes.)

There are a lot of big name food bloggers who have already received cookbook deals (The Pioneer Woman, Joy The Baker, Smitten Kitchen), but since I often cook straight from my iPad — typical Millennial, right? — I find I prefer cooking from the good old blog post. Here are a few blogs that I love and read regularly, blogs where you'll read a terrific recipe combined with a good story and feel inspired enough to head out to the grocery store right after you shut your laptop screen.

Pink Parsley: This blog is written by a mom of four in Atlanta, Ga., but it's not all Jello jigglers and how to sneak veggies into brownies so kids will eat them. Josie writes classic recipes that look delicious, cook up perfectly, and are always appropriate for dinner at home or making for guests. My personal fave is her Creamy Baked Chicken Taquitos: so so good!

Quiche-a-Week : This vegan food blog is new to me, but I love it already because it's hilarious and the recipes are dead on. Go make Molly's Bok Choy and Peanut Sauce. No seriously, go make it right now!

Katie At The Kitchen Door: Yum, yum, yum. Beautiful photography and healthy-ish recipes with a sophisticated twist are what makes me love this blog, which has a rapidly growing audience.

Poor Girl Eats Well : This blog just celebrated its five year anniversary! So there's a wealth of budget-conscious, tasty recipes for you to spend a boring work afternoon pinning to your "Food" board on Pinterest. I also appreciate Kimberly's passion for cooking, combined with her honesty about everything in her life.

Oh Ladycakes: Always vegan and occasionally gluten-free, Oh Ladycakes is one of my favorite spots on the Internet for gorgeous, drool-worthy photos of baked goods, combined with snappy prose. The blogger, Ashlae, is currently on a four-month European adventure with her boyfriend, so there are fun travel stories and pictures, too!
