A Subscription Service for Socks? Yes, It Exists

by Erin Mayer

Have you ever been sitting around in your living room wishing you could order a pair of socks as easily as you can Seamless your way to a Pad Thai dinner without having to put on pants? Great news! You totally can. Sock Fancy is a sock subscription service that exists. The Internet is a magical and amazing place where you can get literally anything with the click of a few buttons.

Sock Fancy members receive one pair of socks delivered to their doorsteps for just $9 per month (there's also a two pairs for $17/month option as well). It's like Birchbox for your feet! Kind of. If only socks were as fun as makeup, right? The company boasts a wide selection for both men and women, so everyone can get in on the journey of personal sock style. Stefan Lewinger, creator & co-founder of Sock Fancy, told Huffington Post:

Socks are a fantastic way to refresh your wardrobe without breaking the bank. Just a little bit of flare and detail can go a really long way. Additionally, one of the more interesting draws of socks is how much of a personal statement they can make. Some people choose to really show them off, proclaiming their fashion sense. Others simply keep them hidden, preferring the personal satisfaction. Socks don't have to be as "out there" as a funky tie or a flashy watch.

Sock Fancy is a cute idea for a company, but it also speaks to something larger about how the Internet has paved the way for literally anything we can possibly imagine. These days, it seems like there's a subscription service for everything — clothes, makeup, coffee... the list goes on and on. If you can dream it up, you can probably get it delivered to your front door once a month. These are exciting times we're living in, that's for sure.

Personally, I think the subscription service is a smart business model in our frenetic and distracted times. Getting a new product delivered each month for a set fee takes some of the overwhelming guesswork out of shopping in the digital age. Socks, in particular, are interesting because, unless you're a bro who lives in Sperry's all year round, you pretty much need them. There's a huge market there, even if it sounds strange.

So get yourself over to Sock Fancy and start revolutionizing your wardrobe, one knitted foot cover at a time.
