Question Everything You Know About NKOTB

by Alyse Whitney

Everyone loves to feel nostalgic, which explains the influx of TV and movie reboots we've been seeing lately and the S Club 7 reunion that's happening. And though I have no ill will toward One Direction and Five Seconds of Summer, they just don't have what boy bands like *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys had back in the day. However, based on Fifth Harmony's cover of "(You Got It) The Right Stuff" by New Kids on the Block, they may have what we're searching for. I won't go as far as to say their cover is better than the original, but it's damn good.

Their fun remix of the song will be featured on the Oct. 28 episode of MTV's Faking It, as they perform as a "girl band that performs vintage boy band covers" in an underground dance club. A clip released from the episode shows them wearing crop tops, headbands, and ripped overalls, which honestly could be '80s costumes or stuff that's sold at Forever 21 now. Trends are in with the old, out with the new these days.

Now that this NKOTB cover has changed the way I think about the band, I'm nervous and excited to see if they'll cover anything else. I think they could have fun with boy-band songs from all eras, including *NSYNC's "Bye Bye Bye" and Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way." Check out their cover and the original below.
