A Funeral Date for Oscar de la Renta Has Been Set

by Jamie Cuccinelli

You have to have heard by now that beloved couture designer Oscar de la Renta passed away earlier this week at the age of 82. Adored for not only his exquisite gowns that graced the forms of countless beautiful women, including Jackie Kennedy, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Amal Clooney, but for his renowned sweet and kind nature, unexpected humor, and dedication to his art, the outpouring of love for the late designer and the sharing of treasured memories from the most notable of the fashion world and celebrities alike (from Anna Wintour to Diane Von Furstenberg to Taylor Swift), has been beautifully overwhelming. With the date now set for de la Renta's funeral and with so many mourning this great loss to the industry, the service is expected to be tremendously jam-packed with friends and admirers.

Slated for November 3, the mass will take place near the New York City home of Oscar de la Renta in the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola at Park Avenue and 84 Street at 11 a.m. Although the family as requested a private service, I’m predicating that the masses who were touched from afar by his talent and creativity will line the streets near the church to bid adieu to the reigning king of couture.
