Mickey Mouse Just Got Seriously Edgy

by Sienna Fantozzi

I'm one of those people that firmly believes Disneyland is the happiest place on earth and I would legitimately move in to Main Street (or maybe New Orleans Square) if I could. So fellow Disney lovers that proudly rock sweatshirts, mouse-ear hats, or minnie-themed PJ's, get ready to look a lot less fashion-retarted, because the latest designer collaboration is Disney themed. Disney is releasing a Mickey Mouse clothing line with Danish designer Wood Wood. Talk about unexpected fashion collaborations.

But this isn't exactly your run-of-the-mill Mouseketeer clothing line. Wood Wood distorted, stretched, and multiplied Mickey to produce a slightly edgier version of the world's most famous mouse. Or one that makes you feel like you're tripping. Whichever way you want to look at it. The designer was inspired by images of old cartoons from the Twenties and Thirties in black and white, and the collection definitely has an old-world feel to it.

The 15-piece collection includes pieces for both men and women, including shirts, dresses, sweatshirts, and even hats and tote bags. It will be available in select retailers starting Nov. 3, but is pre-selling Oct. 27 on Wood Wood's website. So now you finally have an excuse to wear your childhood (or, you know, adulthood — not saying this is me or anything), hero on your clothing and still be edgy and fashionable while you're at it. As Walt Disney himself said, adults are only kids grown up, anyway.
