Homophobe Tackled By Onlookers In An Airport

by Jessica Blankenship

The only thing better than a violent homophobe being taken down by a crowd of people in an airport and then arrested is a violent homophobe being taken down by a crowd of people in an airport and then arrested caught on tape. This altercation at the Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport started as your standard "nauseating instance of a deplorable redneck doing deplorable redneck things" but quickly, beautifully escalated into the perfect microcosm of All That We Would Like To Do To The Intangible Hateful Ideology Of Homophobia. That is to say, it's hella satisfying to watch a crowd of bystanders (quite literally) jump on the opportunity to take down this wretched man-slug.

As much as I genuinely hope that hate crimes become so rare that I never witness something like this in real life, let's all snuggle down and get real with each other: There is a part of every person (okay, every person who has seen a Batman movie) who secretly hopes to see some scummy person try to do something scummy to someone else just so we can swoop in and heroically put a hasty end to their scumminess. I mean, obviously it's preferable for the world to be scum-free, but dammit, if the scum is going to be there, we all can't help but feel a little jealous of the people who are in the right place at the right time to throw the Good Samaritan smack-down on their scummy asses. I bet tackling this dude was one of the most satisfying things any of these people will ever do.
