Free People Holiday Won't Stand For Snow

by Erin Mayer

Apparently, seasons don't exist in boho-land. Free People's holiday lookbook has been revealed on POPSUGAR, and while there are plenty of gorgeous dresses featured, none of them seem particularly warm. In fact, some of them just look like sundresses layered beneath sweaters. What's a cold-climate dwelling girl to do?

First up are the elements you'd expect from a trendy brand in preparation of the Most Wonderful Time of the Year: velvet, sparkly statement necklaces, rich brocade, embroidery. Perfect outfits for sipping on eggnog under the mistletoe at your best friend's annual Chrismukkah bash. Then there are the dresses and little fringed sweaters that are definitely better suited for Coachella weather than a snowy evening.

Perhaps this lookbook is simply trying to be inclusive toward our Californian friends who aren't blessed with icy cold temps come November, but there's something weird about such overtly summery pieces being pushed on us at the start Peppermint Mochas and evergreen tree season. However, if you're still in the market for the perfect party dress as we prepare to kiss Halloween goodbye, you might find what you're looking for here. After all, nothing says "Merry Christmas" quite like a plush velvet maxi and a faux fur coat.

Check out some of the Tumblr-worthy photos below and start planning that winter wardrobe!
