Hiddles Is Headed Back to Marvel

by Alanna Bennett

Seemingly through the sheer will of tumblr — and/or just Marvel's general plan — Tom Hiddleston is returning to the role of Loki for the third Thor film. Can you hear the gifs being made already? I can.

The third in the Thor movies will be called Thor: Ragnarok and is slated to hit theaters July 28, 2017, just two months after the Guardians Of the Galaxy sequel and four months before the recently-announced Black Panther . As Marvel president Kevin Feige said at an event discussing the studio's line-up through 2019, "This is a very important movie for us in Phase Three. We plan on taking Thor to another level. Ultron and Ragnarok, this might indicate that Thor will not be taking part in the superheroic rift that Civil War will explore.

Separate from that, though, is the return of Hiddleston's Loki to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is hardly a huge surprise, as Loki and Hiddleston are two of Marvel's biggest break-outs. There's a lot of time left between now and the summer of 2017 to daydream about what his return might bring. In the meantime, here's a video of Hiddleston talking to Screen Rant about his role in the MCU. He hints that Thor: The Dark World might have been the end of the line for Loki, but that seems like a vicious, vicious lie:
