Andy Warhol: an Online Sale Worth Checking Out

by Alyssa Shapiro

Online shopping addict, you may call me, but I for one will not be missing this online sale, even if it's just to window shop. Isn't it great how 'window shop' still works with online? Anyway.

The auction house is holding an online sale called Andy Warhol@Christie's: Fashion, and it includes some great treasures, like Warhold's famous Polaroids of a dashing, newly graying Giorgio Armani, the perpetually cape-laden André Leon Talley, Princess Caroline of Monaco, the beautiful Lee Radziwill, and others. (Jean Paul Gaultier! Gianni Versace! Okay, I'm done.)

Polaroids aren't the only Warhol pieces for sale. Remember the Christian Dior dresses designed by Raf Simons, who borrowed Warhol's sketches of shoes for the runway?

The drawings from whence they came will be available online, as well.

Though estimates range anywhere from $3,000 to $35,000 (the latter for a drawing of Diana Vreeland, naturally) like all Christie's sales, this too is an auction, and anything could happen.

Should you be so inclined, the sale takes place from September 11 through 25. I'm holding out for the drawing of a deep-in-thought Yves Saint Laurent. Does anyone have $30,000 to spare?
