Cops Joke About Rape On Dash Cam

Because the world is plagued by terrible people who do and say terrible things, two cops were caught making jokes about rape and other incriminating suggestions that no cop (or human) should be making. Since justice is a real thing sometimes, someone on Youtube got ahold of their recorded dashcam video and posted it for the People of the Internet to hear and see. The police department in Austin, Texas investigated these two officers, and lo and behold, the APD officially confirmed that the recording is 100 percent bona fide.

Here’s the awful transcript (BRB while I go barf):

Officer 1: Look at that girl over there.

Officer 2: *Blows whistle* Go ahead and call the cops. They can’t un-rape you. *They laugh

Officer 1: You didn’t turn your camera off, did you?

Officer 2 *Repeats* They can’t un-rape you.

The officer who repeated “they can’t un-rape you” thought he was being pretty clever, because he didn’t bother to, you know, NOT be a disgusting misogynist, rapist-sympathizer while their camera is still on. Not only are these cops assholes, but they’re stupid assholes.

These two gems joked about other aspects of their job, such as "turning a blind eye to fucking everything." Since I don’t really understand their backassward philosophy on life and legal matters, I’m going to assume they were basically joking about not wanting to do their jobs and letting criminals do their thing. That's when one of them started to mock robbery victims by saying, “I want to report a robbery! You probably deserved it.” According to these two shining stars of law enforcement, we all just deserve to be raped and get robbed, huh? Good work, guys. I feel so comfortable and safe knowing that I live in a world where cops sit around joking about how unnecessary it is of them to protect victims of sexual and physical assault. Because ugh. That would be hard work and stuff. Protect women? Meh, ya can't un-rape 'em!

Luckily, the world (most likely) has two less cops of that caliber. The Austin Police Department recently issued this statement:

Upon learning of the video's contents, the Department immediately launched an internal investigation. The investigation will include a comprehensive audit of the involved officers' contacts with victims of sexual assault to ensure the actions taken during the contacts meet the expectations of the Department, the public and most importantly, the victims. Upon conclusion of the investigation, the Department will take appropriate corrective action.

APD extends a heartfelt apology to all victims of sexual assault. The comments made by the officers are contrary to the long-standing commitment of the Department to bring compassionate justice to sexual assault victims.

Ugh. The world is a bummer sometimes.
