Hey Ylvis: We Know What 'The Fox' Says

by Alicia Lutes

If you're a person with eyes or within earshot of the Internet today, you probably came across the delightfully strange video currently sweeping our attention-deficit nation. Dubbed "The Fox," the nearly 4 minute-long, EDM-tinged tune has both baffled and delighted the entire Internet World with its simple lyrics (including "What the fox say? / Wa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pow" and "the elephant goes toot") and satirical leanings. It needs no introduction, it is wonderful, and should be watched immediately.

For those with a thirst for knowledge, your new favorite song is from Ylvis, a cabaret-style performance group from Norway, made up of the brothers Bård and Vegard Ylvisåker. The duo have a television show on a major network out that way called I Kveld Med YLVIS (which roughly translates to "In The Evening of YLVIS," or at least, so says Google). Undoubtedly, this video was supposed to be a simple way to bring publicity to their show, and oh, have they succeeded. Watch:

The thing is, though, Ylvis, the answer to what the fox says is simple: it varies. Because foxes are inherently foxy, which makes them unique animals with individual personalities all their own. I mean, all you need to do is a quick Google search to find the answer to that question.
