Are the 'Jersey Shore' Cast Still Friends?

by Jodi Walker

The Jersey Shore is America's dirty little not-so-secret cultural phenomenon. From 2009 to 2012, we watched six seasons (or, let's keep it real here, two) of Snooki, JWOWW, Pauly D, Vinny, Ronnie, Sammie, Mike, and Deena/Angelina become best friends, worst enemies, and back again. I had never seen anything like it — you had never seen anything like it; but to those young twenty-somethings, Jersey Shore was just the way they lived their life. But those kids aren't 22 anymore, or — in the case of Pauly D and Mike — they're not even 32 anymore. Snooki and JWOWW have babies, Deena is in love, Pauly D, like, runs Las Vegas, I think. Jersey Shore is behind them. It's behind all of us. But are the Jersey Shore cast still friends?

I'll give it to you straight: the short answer here is, "not really." The long answer is, "Well, they definitely don't seem like enemies, but they're not exactly hanging out all the time. They come together for the big things, and some of them are still really close, though! Except for Mike the Situation... no one knows what's going on there."

But I have the hope that those weren't six seasons wasted, that these friendships have extended beyond the confines of reality television. Let's examine this more closely.

The Girls

It seems that the ladies of Jersey Shore have stayed the closest. Of course, Snooki and JWOWW still film their eponymous MTV series, upon which this season will see them being pregnant at the same time. It's a little like Father of the Bride 2. At Jenni "JWOWW" Farley's baby shower in July, however, the two best friends were reunited with their former lady roommates, Deena and Sammi. So, at least they still stay close, even if they can't all film a reality show about the joys of pregnancy.

Ronnie and Sammie

Ronnie joined in with Sammie and Deena last year when the three dropped by Snooki and JWOWW for a halfway-there Jersey Shore reunion. And though Ronnie and Sammi Sweetheart were going strong in January when the show aired, they parted ways in August. But with their track record, goodbye doesn't have to be forever! Stay tuned.

Vinny and Pauly D

This one hurts a little too much. I've always been rooting these two, and although there doesn't seem to be any love lost, Vinny and Pauly D just ain't what they used to be. They were last reunited when the whole gang came together (sans Mike) for JWOWW's engagement shower in April of 2013, but I just have to assume (AKA hope) they have an epic text history.

The Situation

With all of his Real Housewives of New Jersey-esque legal drama, it's safe to say, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino doesn't have a lot of time (or spare funds) for paling around with his former roommates. I'd like to think they're reaching out behind closed doors, but after all that he put them through in the final seasons of the show, there's probably a good reason for him not being involved in the informal reunions over the last two years.
