Did Carrie Diss the President at the CMAs?

Not only did Carrie Underwood make the huge announcement that she is expecting a baby boy with husband Mike Fisher at Wednesday's Country Music Awards, but Underwood also made a joke about President Barack Obama, his lack of support for Postpartum Taylor Swift Disorder (the new disorder sweeping the nation now that Swift left country for pop), and why Democrats lost the Senate. Well, actually, I'm not quite sure she was entirely kidding.

Alongside her co-host and fellow country singer, Brad Paisley, Underwood took a quick "jab" at Obama. It started out with Paisley saying, "I’ll be the first to say it: President Obama does not care about Postpartum Taylor Swift Disorder, or as it’s more commonly known, PPTSD." Underwood quickly added, "I’m pretty sure that’s why the Democrats lost the Senate." The crowd laughed and applauded, but the joke is leaving some perplexed. Did she slam the President and Democrats, or was she just making a funny?

It's hard to say, and it's no secret that many country singers are Republican. In 2012, Us Weekly reported that Underwood is a registered Republican, so her joke could be taken as a slam against liberals. Whatever the case, I don't think people should be getting worked up over it. The duo quickly moved past it by transitioning into the announcement of the gender of Underwood's baby, so maybe they didn't want to take the heat for their statement. I highly doubt that myself, since they probably wouldn't have said it in the first place if that were the case. With that said, I don't think this is something we should dissect. It's a joke, and who doesn't make fun of politics? Move on. Plus, they could have said a lot worse.
