Taylor Swift's '1989' Just Keeps Breaking Records

by Kenya Foy

Singing about haters has earned Taylor Swift some huge accolades, like being named Billboard's Woman of The Year again. Given the continued success of her 1989 album, it's hard to believe there's an actual person out there who isn't a huge T. Swift fan. Fortunately, the "Shake it Off" singer has no time to ponder such menial details, especially when her record-breaking first week album sales are predicted to be followed by yet another chart-topping sales week. According to Billboard, Taylor Swift's 1989 is expected to sell 400,000 copies in its second week, which would firmly plant it at the top of the Billboard 200 chart.

According to the charts, any other album release that even had a shot of keeping up with Swift's ridiculous numbers would've needed one hell of a head start to compete. With 60,000-70,000 copies predicted for its second week, the Now 52 compilation is the only album anywhere near the vicinity of Swift's record sales — and even then, there's a huge gap between 400,000 and 70,000.

Additionally, what makes this so special is that those numbers could theoretically put the album into position to nab the title of 2014's best-selling album — that is, if it weren't for the fact that her first week numbers already did that. She's literally unstoppable.

Clearly the sophomore week sales slump doesn't apply to Swift, who's recently been compared to Michael Jackson and had her hit song remixed by everyone from Meghan Trainor to a bunch of dramatic frat guys.

I'm gonna so ahead and say that it's safe to say the T. Swift takeover won't be stopping anytime soon. And you know, I am totally OK with that.
