8 Books To Dive Into While You Await the Return of Your Favorite Shows
Right now we're stranded in that strange limbo land where summer TV has finished, but most fall shows still haven't returned, and there's only so many times you can re-watch Orange Is the New Black on Netflix. (Though actually....) But never fear! There's always a good book. Here are some recommendations to help you gear up for the return of your favorite shows while hopefully making the wait bearable.

For 'Revenge' Fans: 'Gone Girl' by Gillian Flynn
Revenge does intrigue, backstabbing, suspense better than most shows could ever dream to, but the sleek drama of Gillian Flynn's bestselling novel is well up to the challenge. And you should have time to finish it before Revenge returns September 29.

For 'Arrow' Fans: 'Zorro' by Isabel Allende
Who knows what it is about Arrow that makes it so addictive. Maybe it's Oliver Queen's chest. Still, for a more literary masked hero — and one with more of a sense of humor — we can always turn to Isabel Allende's witty and fun adaptation of Zorro. Alas, there is no substitute for Oliver Queen's chest. What do you mean we have to wait until Oct. 9; haven't we waited long enough?

For 'The Good Wife' Fans: 'Why I Stayed' by Gayle Haggard
Gayle Haggard, the wife of Focus on the Family founder Ted Haggard, might not have much in common politically with our girl, Alicia Florick, but while we wait for everyone's favorite housewife turned lawyer to return to our silver screen on Sept. 29, we can delve into Haggard's account of her real life struggles after her husband was caught up in a sex scandal. And you have to figure the world of conservative family organizations is just as cut throat as Chicago politics, after all.

For 'White Collar' Fans: 'Heist Society' by Ally Carter
Everybody's favorite high end, sort-of legit, thief won't be back until October 17, but in the mean time you can dig into Ally Carter's young adult novel of a girl raised in "the life" who reluctantly dives back in to save her parents by pulling off the biggest heist of all time.

For 'Once Upon a Time' Fans: 'Grimms Fairy Tales'
This show has branched out a lot since its early days, and who knows where it's going next, but we won't find out until Sept. 29. In the meantime, though, the source material is there to cuddle up with. If, that is, you can call Grimm's Fairy Tales cuddly.

For 'Revolution' Fans: 'The Road' by Cormac McCarthy
One post-apocalyptic wasteland deserves another, after all. 'Revolution' is a lot cheerier that McCarthy's novel, but since it won't be back until Sept. 25, we might as well give ourselves a few good chills in the meantime.

For 'The Mindy Project' Fans: 'Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me' by Mindy Kaling
Mindy Kaling is funny, whether it's on the screen or on the page. So in case you haven't already picked up her autobiography, it should more than tide you over until she returns on Sept. 17.

For 'Scandal' Fans: 'Twelfth Night' by William Shakespeare
Scandal. With its sleek style, excellent acting, and shocking twists, it's hard to beat this show. But the ultimate literary genius of William Shakespeare should be up to the job. Twelfth Night has plenty of love triangles, mix ups, confusions, and scandalous attraction of its own. And while it won't have the subtle commentary on race and gender that Scandal gives us, it does have some gender bending to keep us entertained until Oct. 3.
