Ariana Grande's 'Hunger Games' Song Is Here

by Alex Kritselis

On Thursday, Ariana Grande's new song for the Mockingjay soundtrack, "All My Love," premiered online, and it provides a nice contrast to the dark music we've heard from the movie thus far (like Lorde's "Yellow Flicker Beat," for example). Hey, I know we're talking about The Hunger Games here, but the entire soundtrack can't be doom and gloom! Over a danceable beat and electronic synths (courtesy of production group Major Lazer), Grande sings lyrics about overcoming obstacles in life (like, you know, being forced to take part in a death match for the enjoyment of the Capitol) with...love. Awww. Yeah, it's a little cheesy, but personally, I think it's sweet (Team Peeta forever, by the way). On the song's first verse, Grande sings:

Sometimes, I think we're the brightest stars

And I try to believe we'll find a way

Will life change when our hearts turn colder?

All the rhythms in my heart lift me up and say

We can't stay out of trouble, is it worth the blame?

Is it true that the more you give, the more they take?

All the rhythms in my heart lift me up and say...

Admittedly, the chorus is kind of hard to understand (classic Grande), but I think this is what she's singing:

Only love will make us ache

Only love is worth the chase

All my love, I know we're ready for this

On the rocks, over the mountain top

Fun fact: Lorde, who was responsible for putting together the Mockingjay - Part 1 soundtrack, is currently in a bit of a tiff with Diplo, who co-produced "All My Love" as a member of Major Lazer. On Wednesday, Diplo insulted Lorde's pal, Taylor Swift, on Twitter:

The 18-year-old "Royals" singer fired back:

Ruthless. It'll be interesting to see how this little spat affects the pair's working relationship going forward. In other words, if Lorde ends up curating the Mockingjay - Part 2 soundtrack, as well, I wouldn't count on Diplo being involved again. We'll see.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 soundtrack will be released on Nov. 17.
