Give Our Feet a Break: Flat Shoes for Spring '14

Our dogs barked, and designers listened. After killing our arches and squishing our tootsies, flat shoes are coming into the picture in a beautiful, practical way all over the spring 2014 runways.

My heart races for the limited edition flat slides by The Row, and my feet are (probably, after I soak them in hot, epsom salt-filled water) doing a little happy dance in anticipation. These beauties were done in collaboration with men's shoe designer Enzo Bonafè, and obviously Italian men's cobblers have an understanding of beautifully made, lasting, comfortable (flat!) shoes. These puppies are going to be made in über-limited quantities, so for those who aren't quick enough to snag a pair, there are still options a'plenty.

Consider Tibi's Birkenstock-esque, but much prettier, sandal. Ideal for shuffling all over town, and simple enough to go with almost any outfit:
