Check Out This Sick Chanel Lipstick Cake

by Erin Mayer

Baked goods and couture seem like strange bedfellows, which is exactly what makes them such a charming match. Karl Lagerfeld has designed a Chanel lipstick cake that is way too pretty to eat — but that doesn't mean you won't want to get your hands on a slice. After all, everything Karl touches turns to gold (literally; the cake is sort of gold).

So, how did Lagerfeld go from legendary fashion designer to newbie cake designer? According to the Daily News, Karl was tapped by chef Alain Ducasse to create a special cake for the 10th anniversary of his restaurant Beige Tokyo. The resulting design is a sugary replica of Chanel's classic Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in, you guessed it, beige. Pastry chef Julien Kientzler will produce 100 cakes to be sold in Tokyo for approximately $120 a pop. Sounds like a pretty fabulous way to celebrate a birthday!

A cake featuring interlocking C's is the perfect tribute to Beige. The French restaurant, which opened it's doors in 2004, was actually designed as a tribute to Coco Chanel, according to Lifestyle Asia. The cake even has a string of pearl-like accents that directly nod to Mademoiselle Chanel's personal style. This dreamy dessert would be just the thing to make any Christmas dinner memorable, but alas, a trip to Tokyo is not in store for my holiday season. I guess I'll just have to keep salivating over the photos.

Yum!
