New Minispresso Fits In The Palm Of Your Hand

I'm shaking right now, and it's not because I already have two cups of Starbucks coffee coursing through my veins — it's because I may not have to wait in line at Starbucks any longer thanks the the new Minispresso, a to-go expresso maker from Hong Kong-based startup Wacaco. According to the company, Minipresso is "the smallest, lightest, and most versatile handheld espresso machine." In addition to weighing less than a single pound, the ingenious contraption fits in the palm of your hand, making it easy to brew fresh, quality expresso whenever, wherever.

The brewing process is simple: start off by filling the scoop with tamped coffee grounds, and then pump hot water from the mini thermos through the grounds until you're left with the perfect shot of expresso. The lid functions as an espresso cup, so no need to bring your to-go mug with you — everything you need is in this one simple, heavenly device. The Minispresso even comes will portable capsules from Caffitaly, so you don't have to worry about measuring out your coffee.

Check out the video below and see for yourself how easy it is. And if you're wondering what tamped grounds are (as a caffeine addict, I'm embarrassed to say I wasn't familiar), they refer to compacting the ground coffee in a portafilter to achieve the desired expresso quality.

Although there's no scheduled release date yet, the Minispresso is set to ship in early 2015, and you can best bet I'll be first in line. But with the price of a small Nespresso machine resting comfortably at a little under $300, this new portable machine may not come cheap. Still, it's a small price to pay for a device that gives you homemade espresso on the way to work, while traveling, or in the case that your New York apartment is too small to fit an actual coffee maker (I've been there, the struggle is real.) The only thing that might make this product even better is if it comes out with customizable colors or designs, because I for one am dying to tote around a metallic Minispresso.
