Ranking Every Destiny's Child Single Ever

by Nicole Pomarico

Beyonce is clearly the greatest human being to ever walk the earth, but let's not forget the early 2000s girl band that made her famous: Destiny's Child. With the help of Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams (and the revolving door of singers who joined and dropped out of the group over the course of their career) and a few number one singles, Beyonce eventually shot to superstardom, but she never would have made it there without the hits of Destiny's Child. And trust me, there are a lot of them. I would know, because they make the final cut on any and every playlist I've ever made.

It's been 16 years since their self-titled debut album dropped, and plenty of people are still obsessed with their music, and it's easy to see why. The themes of their many varied singles range from angry to heartbroken to so in love with their significant other that they're willing to creepily put their needs aside for him, but all of them are catchy and ideal for singing along to in the shower. Destiny's Child aren't just the voices of the Charlie's Angels soundtrack, ya'll. They're the voice of a generation.

Here is every single Destiny's Child ever released, ranked from worst to best.

16. "Stand Up For Love" From #1s Greatest Hits Album (2005)

Okay, so the song was made for a good cause (World Children's Day) and it has a great message. Otherwise? Total snoozefest.

15. "Nasty Girl" From Survivor (2002)

I hate this song. And I hate the fact that my lord and savior, Beyonce, would ever agree to record a song that is the very definition of slut-shaming. Can we talk about these lyrics?

Nasty put some clothes on, I told ya Don't walk out your house without no clothes on, I told ya Girl what ya thinkin' bout lookin' that to' down, I told ya These men don't want no hot female that's been around the block female, you nasty girl

You know what, Destiny's Child? We can wear whatever we want to. Hush.

14. "No, No, No" From Destiny's Child (1997)

For a first single, this isn't bad at all — and it immediately shot to number one on the charts. However, when compared to their later singles, this lyrically shallow song becomes completely forgettable.

13. "Nuclear" From Love Songs (2013)

Intended as their comeback single, this song ended up not bringing Destiny's Child back into our lives the way I hoped. It's still not a terrible song, though.

12. "Cater 2 U" From Destiny Fulfilled (2005)

I am a huge advocate for taking good care of your significant other. In fact, being kind to each other is essential to making a relationship work. But this song — which is super catchy, to its credit — is way more submissive than healthy. If your "life is purposeless" without the guy you're dating, if you feel pressured to spend hours at the gym making sure you look like the woman he fell in love with, you're probably in the wrong relationship.

11. "Girl" From Destiny Fulfilled (2005)

The ultimate anthem for anyone who's trying to drag their BFF out of a relationship that she doesn't realize is bad for her. This is a song I want to sing to Selena Gomez every time I see her back together with Justin Bieber. Selena, I'm your girl, you're my girl, we your girls. Don't you know that we love you?

Bonus points: This video is made to look like an episode of Sex and The City, and I love every minute of it.

10. "Bug A Boo" From The Writing's on The Wall (1999)

This is the exact opposite of "Cater 2 U." It's also how I feel about my upstairs neighbors, who are loud as sin at all hours of the night. "Break my lease so I can move," indeed.

9. "Emotion" From Survivor (2001)

Because who doesn't love a good heartbreak single once in awhile?

8. "Jumpin', Jumpin'" From The Writing's On The Wall (2000)

Perfect for any girl's night, so leave your man at home, because the club is full of ballas, and they pockets full grown. You know what this means: Jello shots!

7. "Lose My Breath" From Destiny Fulfilled (2004)

This song was my alarm clock for the longest time in high school. There is nothing to get you out of bed and moving like some sass straight from Beyonce. Try it.

6. "Soldier" From Destiny Fulfilled (2004)

Destiny's Child is completely unstoppable when they join forces with T.I. and Lil Wayne. I have full confidence that this song could be released today, ten years later, and still be number one.

5. "Say My Name" From The Writing's On The Wall (2000)

"If no one is around you, say 'baby, I love you' if you ain't runnin' game." Solid relationship advice. And yes, that is Kobe Bryant rapping in the remix.

4. "Bills Bills Bills" From The Writing's On The Wall (1999)

I remember being ten years old, bopping around in the car to this song in the backseat, thinking about how I was totally growing up to be an Independent Woman Who Does Not Need A Man. And when I did find a man, the last thing I was going to do was lend him my credit card, thanks to the advice of my pals Beyonce, Kelly, and Michelle. Thanks, guys!

3. "Bootylicious" From Survivor (2001)

Long before Megan Trainor was all about that bass, Destiny's Child advocated for accepting your big booty for the beautiful asset that it is. It's been more than ten years, and I still don't think you're ready for this jelly.

2. "Independent Women" From the Charlie's Angels Soundtrack (2000)

It may have started as a soundtrack song, but it's one of my favorites of all time. All the ladies who truly feel me, throw your hands up at me!

1. "Survivor" From Survivor (2001)

And here we have the best Destiny's Child single of all time. Even today, it still applies to every situation. Fighting with your boyfriend? Listen to "Survivor." Can't afford to go grocery shopping because your student loan bill was due? Listen to "Survivor." Break a nail trying to get into a bag of Cheetos? "Survivor."
