Michael Che to Bill Cosby: 'Pull YOUR Pants Up'

by Nicole Pomarico

In what I'm sure will be the first of many Bill Cosby-themed discussions on Saturday Night Live, Michael Che took on the first round this Saturday night. In response to the recent sexual assault allegations against Cosby, Che made a few remarks about how obvious it is now that Cosby is nothing like his Cosby Show alter-ego, Dr. Cliff Huxtable. During Weekend Update, Che finally got to say something he's been waiting a long time to get off his chest. If your Cosby Show memory is a little foggy, Dr. Huxtable's main game was telling young guys like his son, Theo, to act like an adult, and most of his advice centered around pulling up their pants.

Which is why Che was so excited to take this opportunity to say, "Hey, Bill Cosby, pull your damn pants up."

He also went on to voice how disappointed he is in Cosby's alleged behavior, since Dr. Huxtable was such a beloved character for him and so many others growing up.

In the wake of allegations against Bill Cosby, TV Land pulled all reruns of The Cosby Show, and I don't know how to feel about that because I don't know Bill Cosby, but Cliff Huxtable practically raised me. I loved that dude. And the only thing he tried to sneak when people were asleep was a hoagie. So while I may never forgive Bill Cosby, hopefully someday I can forgive Dr. Huxtable.

It may have been too soon for Che to make light of the situation, considering the fact that recent developments revolving around Cosby's allegations is truly horrifying as victims continue to come forward to tell their stories. However, Che does have a point — it's heartbreaking to find out that the man who played a character on such a widely loved show might not be who he presented himself to be.

In the meantime, Cosby's lawyer, Marty Singer, has released a statement denying the allegations.

Over the last several weeks, decade-old, discredited allegations against Mr. Cosby have resurfaced. The fact that they are being repeated does not make them true. Mr. Cosby does not intend to dignify these allegations with any comment. He would like to thank all his fans for the outpouring of support and assure them that, at age 77, he is doing his best work. There will be no further statement from Mr. Cosby or any of his representatives.
