Lisa Bonet's Tweet About Bill Cosby Is Fake

by Emma Goddard

Now that rape allegations against Bill Cosby have once again come to light within the past month, the claims have skyrocketed with even more women coming forward to condemn the actor’s actions. From old friends and actresses to big name models like Janice Dickinson, more than a dozen women have shared their own stories about Cosby’s alleged predatory behavior with the media. The stories have been quite sickening and even heartbreaking as these women relive the appalling details of their alleged rapes, sexual assaults and general inappropriate behavior with the comedian. Yet with all of these brave women taking a stand against Cosby, it seems that some people are beginning to take advantage of the situation after a Bill Cosby-related tweet was sent out in Lisa Bonet’s name.

Major sources like Fox News, Page Six, and the International Business Times, along with several others, all reported on the story which has since been deemed as fake by Bonet’s manager.

The original tweet, which was sent out by an unverified Twitter account in Bonet’s name read, “According to the karma of past actions, one’s destiny unfolds, even though everyone wants to be so lucky… Nothing stays in the dark 4ever!” Though it received hundreds of favorites and retweets, the account has since been deactivated and labeled a hoax.

“I can assure you that is not her Twitter account and I have had the account suspended,” talent manager Jillian Neal told TheWrap on Sunday.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that someone has attempted to get one of the actors from The Cosby Show involved. Already, actress Raven-Symone spoke out against rumors that her TV father had sexually assaulted her while working on the show, and it’s quite disturbing that she even had to.

This is already an extremely sensitive subject, and I find it problematic that some people out there are trying to make the situation worse than it already is. The women who have come out with their allegations are doing so knowing that they will be in the public eye recounting their horrific stories time and time again. So whoever is trolling the Internet by making up serious allegations like this is causing even more damage, and it has to stop.
