Are 'RHOBH' Stars Lisa & Kyle Friends Now?

by Laura Rosenfeld

We don't often get resolutions on reality TV shows, but when we do, we should covet them, because you never know how long they're going to last. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars Kyle Richards and Lisa Vanderpump were the foes of Season 4 of RHOBH . By the time the reunion for that season rolled around, it didn't look like these onetime besties would ever be friends again.

To recap, the two had a major falling out in Season 4 over accusations Lisa made about Kyle's husband Mauricio. Lisa accused Mauricio of using friendly relationships to benefit his real estate career, and she also didn't support Kyle when rumors about Mauricio's infidelity came up. Those are some serious, below-the-belt comments that had the potential to ruin their friendship forever.

But if Kyle can forgive Lisa for dragging a llama through her house, she can surely forgive her for this, right? Well, when the Season 5 premiere rolled around, Kyle invited Lisa to work out their issues over some Italian food, which was a smart choice of cuisine, because how can you feel anything but awesome when eating that stuff? After a bit of a back-and-forth, but nothing too emotional, Lisa and Kyle vowed to put the past behind them.

And in fact, it looked like they did. At Kyle's White Party later in the episode, there was shockingly no conflict. But as I mentioned before, resolution on reality TV is like a mythical creature that's difficult to keep hold of. Could these two really be friends again?

Many months have passed since Kyle's summer White Party, so it's possible that Lisa and Kyle could be enemies once again. However, it looks like these two really have buried the hatchet... for now at least. Just before filming on Season 5 started, Kyle told E! News that the two were friends, and she was happy Lisa would be returning for this season. She had also hung out with Lisa and without any conflict, to boot.

Kyle told OK! Magazine in October that she and Lisa are "in a good place" and that given the choice between Lisa and fellow cast member Brandi Glanville, she would be "Team Lisa." However, Kyle did qualify that statement by saying, "But things change very fast around here!" It makes me feel like just because they're friends now doesn't mean they will be by the time the RHOBH reunion rolls around.

The pair have occasionally tweeted compliments to one another this fall, so that's of course a good sign. Kyle even seemed confident recently on Twitter that she and Lisa wouldn't break their truce.

At other times, to the uninitiated, it might seem like they're hurling insults at one another, but if you know anything about Lisa, you know that her put-downs are terms of endearment. If that's still the case, I'd say that Lisa and Kyle's friendship is alive and well.

However, Lisa and Kyle's Bravotv.com blog posts published after the RHOBH premiere worry me. In them, they seem civil, but they don't gush or really express their love for one another. Lisa wrote, "Kyle and I have always had a bond and many have tried to sever that, trying to divide and conquer." So it seems like her long relationship with Kyle was the reason she was willing to move their relationship forward. Kyle also noted a desire to return to the old days of their friendship as one of the reasons why she wanted to resolve their issues. However, I thought this line from Kyle's blog post was curious: "Brushing it under the carpet and just 'moving on' is always a temporary solution." Isn't that exactly what the two of them did when they met during the Season 5 premiere? Does that mean the conflict between them may have died down for now, but it could be reignited any second?

This is RHOBH we're talking about here, so there's always the possibility that this feud will rear its ugly head again later on this season. But for now, it looks like everyone, especially Lisa, has set their sights on ostracizing Brandi, and we all know that's a full-time job.
