Boulder, Colorado Residents Facing Evacuation and Fatalities Talk About The Flood
Flooding continues to force thousands of evacuations from Colorado Monday, where a major airlift is underway as a result of the disaster. In Boulder, some residents are trying to control the water flow to keep it away from their homes — while others are just there to witness the phenomenon in progress. Bustle asked people in the city how the flood is affecting them.

Flooding continues to force thousands of evacuations from Colorado Monday, where a major airlift is underway as a result of the disaster. In Boulder, some residents are trying to control the water flow to keep it away from their homes — while others are just there to witness the phenomenon in progress. Bustle asked people in the city how the flood is affecting them.
Ilene
I have friends in Jamestown, and one of the men who died is their neighbor. They're okay, but they can't get out of their house. I have a friend in Longmont and one in North Boulder that I haven't heard from and I'm starting to get worried. This whole thing is crazy.
Colleen
We live on Seventh, so our street is closed. We were up all night bailing out the water. We live in a stone house, and we have water in one of the walls — but since all the bailing, we seem to be doing better now. My husband is down helping to make sandbags right now.
Sophia and Eliza
Well, we don't have school. It's bringing the neighborhood together. Everybody's coming out with shovels to pitch in. And we don't have any property damage right now, so that's good.
Nicolai and Shelby
Nicolai: I'm having a blast. This is adventure time for me. I wanted to go down to where the river meets the creek where it's really flooding... but she wouldn't let me.
Shelby: No, you've got to respect a natural phenomenon like this. I've lived in Colorado my whole life and I've never seen anything like this.

This is insane. We grew up here, and we've never seen anything like it. We're really just sad for the people who live in places more isolated than Boulder, or who need to be evacuated. We live in a basement apartment, and we have water seeping through the carpet but no flooding, so we're really grateful.
