Is Taylor Taking Style Inspo From Britney?

In pop stardom, things are constantly being recycled, redone, reinvented... Lady Gaga is always being compared to Madonna; Ariana Grande to Mariah Carey, etc, etc — and now, Taylor Swift is dressing like Britney Spears. I know, I know. Swift's girly style doesn't exactly seem like it takes much inspiration from Spears's days of denim suits, but bear with me.

It may sound like a stretch, sure: Their music styles quite possibly couldn't be more different ("Hit Me Baby One More Time" vs. "Love Story," ha!), and appearance-wise, they share little more than head of blonde hair and a penchant for black eyeliner. And 99 percent of the time, their respective fashion senses tend to sit at opposite sides of the pop star spectrum... But not today, my friends. Not today: Because remember the kick-ass sheer lace mini Swift wore to the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on Tuesday? It's almost identical to a dress Britney wore to the MTV VMAs way (way) back in 2001.

There are some key differences, of course: Spears shows her bellybutton, for one (Swift's all but sworn not to). Swift's is more sheer, and Spears's has bell sleeves (it was the early 2000s, after all), but other than that? They're almost astoundingly similar. Take a look:
