Abercrombie & Fitch Will Focus on Fragrances

If you asked me to blindly identify Abercrombie & Fitch's cologne or perfume, I'd be able to recognize it in an instant. Even though I haven't stepped into one of their stores in years, the scent lingers in my memory — how could it not? The all-American retailer is famous for clouding their shops in their signature scents. But just when I thought I'd never smell that intoxicating scent again, today's announcement says it's about to become even more notorious, or at least that's their hope. According to a press release, Abercrombie & Fitch is partnering with Inter Parfums Inc. to develop new perfumes and fragrance-related products for both Abercrombie and Hollister.

The press release states that the company plans on selling their new fragrances in specialty retailers, high-end department stores and duty free shops. So, it might not be too long until you see those chiseled ab-lined perfume bottles the next time you're at the airport. This plan will go beyond the U.S., of course, across the seas, where Abercrombie & Fitch's market is strong.

Jonathan Ramsden, Chief Operating Officer of Abercrombie & Fitch stated in the press release, "We already have a successful fragrance business and believe that, with Inter Parfums as our partner, we can leverage this into a much larger global opportunity."

So while their clothing line may not be doing as well as they'd hope, Abercrombie & Fitch might be on to something with their fragrances and perfumes. Just this past October, they released two new scents — Fierce Confidence and Fierce Intense. Looks like there's plenty, plenty more where those came from — like it or not.
