Couple Who Met at Ferguson Protests Gets Hitched

If this doesn't get turned into a movie immediately, I'm giving up on life. Ferguson protestors Alexis Templeton and Brittany Ferrell got married yesterday, and — sorry, did you hear that? I think that was the sound of my heart growing three sizes after typing that sentence. Well, 'tis the season.

Templeton and Ferrell are both members of the grassroots, youth-oriented organization Millennial Activists United, BuzzFeed reports. Ferrell was raised in St. Louis, but both attended high school in Ferguson, where they later became prominent activists in the protests after Michael Brown's death. Earlier this year, 20-year-old Templeton penned an account of her time spent protesting (with the scathing observation that she "spent more time in jail than Darren Wilson") that was published in Ebony, and Ferrell discussed her decision to leave nursing school to dedicate her life to the Ferguson movement with NPR last month. The two met while demonstrating, and 130 days later, Templeton and Ferrell were married in the St. Louis City Hall, in the company of close friends and St. Louis City Attorney Calvert Winson. Both women are active on social media, and their wedding was announced accordingly on Twitter.

Photos of the ceremony were also shared by the couple and friends.

Both women have tweeted that they're grateful for all the well-wishes being sent their way.

Although there's always going to be someone trying to rain on their parade. Really, people? You're complaining about two people falling in love?

Thankfully, it looks like the hate is far outweighed by the support for the couple on social media.

After seemingly nothing but months dismal news surrounding Ferguson, at least one good thing has come out of it. So congratulations to Templeton and Ferrell! Is this going to be a politically active family or what?
