Check Out Her Early 2000s Style

I don't know about you, but there are plenty of outfits from the early-to-mid 2000s that I'd like to forget I ever wore. A pleated denim miniskirt with a frayed edge comes immediately to mind. The period wasn't entirely bad for fashion, but there were definitely some rough spots. Even celebrities had a hard time. Take Ashley Benson's early '00s throwback Instagram, in which she looks like a poster child for the era.

To be fair, the Pretty Little Liars actress was 15 years old at the time the (actually rather adorable) photo was taken. She's pictured posing with two friends wearing a stretchy white shirt (like, bright white) with blue and pink stripes up the sleeves that perfectly matches her asymmetrical cotton skirt and sparkly earrings. Add to that a denim jacket and a flip phone and viola! You have an outfit that appears to have been stolen from the Mean Girls costume closet.

It helps that Benson is an adorable, rather Regina George-esque 15 year-old. But still. This outfit is rough. It will probably give you horrifying flashbacks to when you yourself were an awkward teen wearing too much pink, or too much Hot Topic, or whatever your fashion poison happened to be circa 2005.
