Baby Panda's First Romp In The Snow Will Melt You

by Kat George

Prepare to be killed by cuteness. And I bet today you thought the cold was what was going to get you! Nope, death by cuteness. The National Zoo posted a video of their baby panda, Bao Bao, having her first frolic in the snow today, and it's the level of adorable you'd expect, which is roughly "mind-melting". The zoo gave this gross understatement of exactly how glorious the video really is:

"As the year’s first blanket of snow coated the Washington, D.C. area today, giant panda Bao Bao spent much of the morning playing in it for the very first time. The sixteen month-old panda cub tumbled down the hill in her outdoor enclosure, climbed trees and pounced on her mother Mei Xiang."

Bao Bao, curled up like one of those little bugs that turns into a ball when you touch it, adorably rolls down a snowy hill like an actual ball of panda, so round does she become.

The video comes as we plummet into the "death cold" portion of winter, and is just what I needed after a walk outside that left me feeling like my cheeks were actually going to fall off my face. If only we could all enjoy the snow as much as little Bao Bao! If only we were all pandas! If only the National Zoo would post more videos of more animals being adorable in the snow (hint). After all, the zoo did mention that their "great cats, seals and wolves also enjoyed the wintry weather." National Zoo, you know the rules: Videos, or it didn't happen.
