Julianne and Anna Wintour Wore Matching Outfits

by Rosie Narasaki

First off, who would have ever expected to see Julianne Moore and Anna Wintour wearing matching outfits? I mean, Anna Wintour is all about immaculate sheath dresses (really, all about; she doesn't tend to stray from the silhouette), while Julianne Moore is generally more of a risk-taker. That said, there's no sugar-coating the fact that Wintour's style completely blows Moore's out of the water — I mean, to be fair, she's definitely got an advantage, since fashion is her life — but there's no question that on any given day, she would looks leagues more stylish than Moore. Except this week, that is — because it's a genuinely tough call for who wore the Dolce & Gabbana sheath dress better.

They're not exactly the same dress, but they're definitely variations on a theme: Moore's version is long-sleeved with a plain, black lace top, while Wintour's has three-quarter-length sleeves, and large carnations embroidered across the chest (Moore's features carnations too, but only on the skirt). The only other differences are in the styling — Wintour is wearing her signature bob and statement necklace, while Moore has her hair side-parted and pulled into a sleek ponytail, with minimal accessorizing. Let's take a look:

Now, this is probably utter slander, but I think in this particular case... Julianne Wintour wore it better. I know, it's not exactly what you'd expect: Wintour's the editor-in-chief of Vogue, and Julianne's the type of person who think's it a good idea to wear an ill-fitting tennis ball–hued gown to the Emmy Awards. Still, I think the ultra-sleek hair and the few-to-none accessory look actually works better with this busy dress. That said, I like Anna's actual dress a touch better, so it's definitely a tough judgement call!

Of course, when it comes down to it? Emily Blunt totally wore these Dolce & Gabbana carnations best of all.
