Tina Fey Gives Encouraging Update on Tracy Morgan

This is definitely a good sign. Though reports about the condition of comedian and actor Tracy Morgan following the devastating car accident he was involved in this past summer have been vague, this is likely the most promising update so far: In a new interview with E! News ahead of her Golden Globes hosting gig, Tina Fey reported that Tracy Morgan "is doing good" as far as his recovery goes.

"I saw Tracy," Fey told E!, during the interview to promote her upcoming Netflix series, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. "I went and visited him before the holidays. He's doing good. He's got a long road ahead of him, but he's going to get there."

Previously, Morgan's friend and comedian Chris Rock had reported a similar update, though added that Morgan is (understandably) still traumatized by the accident. The crash, which was between a limo Morgan was in and a Wal-Mart truck, took place on the New Jersey Turnpike in June 2014. It left Morgan, along with 6 others, in critical condition, and Morgan's friend, comedian James “Jimmy Mack” McNair, dead.

Fey's update on Morgan's condition is definitely encouraging news, but what she said next is, likely, the best of all: Though Morgan is still recovering from his injuries, Fey reported that Morgan already has his first comeback gig lined up for when he's well again — and it'll be somewhat of a major 30 Rock reunion. "Tracy has already told me that when he is well, he wants to be on [Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt]," she said. "And I said, ‘You got it.'"

While it may be too soon to theorize when Morgan will begin acting again, the fact that he's focusing on his recovery and already thinking about the next step is an amazing update — and, hopefully, the first of many.
