Emma Stone is a Rule-Breaker at the Globes

by Alexa Tucker

The rare style mishap that Emma Stone encountered when she presented at the 2014 Golden Globes has almost been forgiven. Stone's Lanvin jumpsuit blew her oddly layered Chanel separates from last year's show out of the water, and while I love that she's doing something different, there's one part I'm not sold on: that giant bow.

Stone, who's nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role in Birdman, decided to pass on the dress in favor of a jumpsuit that's rhinestoned and glamorous on the top and chic and sophisticated on the bottom. I adore the draping black satin train, but I could have done without the giant bow on the back.

Save her misguided choice last year, it's uncommon that the actress' style disappoints me, especially when it comes to red carpets. She always manages to capture classic elegance with a modern twist, and her looks ride the perfect balance between dated and too-trendy. Her backless peach gown from the 2011 Globes is one of my favorite dresses ever to hit the award show's red carpet, and she crushed the crop top style with pink and red separates at last year's Met Gala (her crushable arm candy — English boyfriend Andrew Garfield — didn't hurt either).

Whether she's blonde, brunette, or sporting her signature fiery red locks like she is tonight, Stone's confidence ensures she looks incredible in just about anything, especially this jumpsuit.

As if there weren't already enough reasons to root for the actress tonight (her enviable talent, hilarious personality, and down-to-earth demeanor, to name a few), I'm deciding to look beyond the bow and add this jumpsuit to the list.
