Oprah's Embellished Globes Gown Screams Queen

by Alexa Tucker

Our next style subject is a woman who's only known by one name: Winfrey. (Thanks for setting me up with that one, Tina Fey.) In all seriousness, Oprah eloquently explained the nominated film Selma to the audience at the Golden Globes looking every bit the queen she is in an elegant black Jenny Packham gown with silver embellishments lining the boat-style neckline and zig-zagging down the sides.

I hate to use the term age-appropriate, but I'm going to — because Oprah's redefining what it means. Who says women "over a certain age" can't wear embellished, fitted gowns? Oprah's never been one to listen to what society says, whether it's about race, class, or fashion, and this gown looks just as fabulous on her as it would on a 24-year-old "young thing," if not better. Oprah, I applaud you for being a style star in your own right, and an under-appreciated one at that.

Also, I love that her longtime BFF Gayle King is there to support her, as always — the only thing that would have been cuter is if Gayle had been wearing a matching dress. Too much? Never, not when it comes to this icon.
