Kate's Satin Turtleneck Dress Is Actually Cool

by Erin Mayer

Much has been made of John Galliano's triumphant return to fashion, which came in the form of a collection for Maison Martin Margiela, debuting on Monday during London's Men's Fashion Week. Accoridng to the Daily Mail, Kate Moss came out to show her support for the designer by sitting front row, and, naturally, she looked amazing. I'd argue that satin turtleneck dress she wore as a spectator was just as memorable as anything that traversed the runway.

Moss, who wore a John Galliano creation to wed Jamie Hince in 2011, was photographed leaving the show venue on Monday night sporting a black satin column that covered her from neck to ankles, like the hyper conservative version of the '90s slipdress, layered beneath a tough Saint Laurent biker jacket and paired with a fringed clutch.

The dress is a little odd, sure, but Moss manages to pull it off effortlessly with the help of minimal makeup and that spectacularly fit body of hers. I especially love the minimalist color palette and the combination of the weighty leather jacket with the slippery soft fabric of the dress. Who says you need to show skin to be sexy?
