Victoria's Secret Protestors Call For Body Diversity

by Nathalie O'Neill

On Saturday, scantily clad members of non-profit About-Face, gathered in front of a Victoria's Secret store in San Francisco to protest what they feel is the brand's promotion of an unrealistic body ideal.

Wearing only underwear, the protestors held up signs reading "I pledge to love my body." About-Face, whose mission it is to educate women about the effects of the media on body image, has named their effort "Operation Real Bodies, Real Love," and is using Twitter to spread the news.

Protestors asked passersby to sign a 'body pledge,' encouraging them to love their body as it is. "Not everybody needs to be like that in order to be attractive, in order to be awesome in general," Jennifer Berger, executive director of About-Face, explained to ABC7.
