Valentino Pre-Fall 2015 Goes Intergalactic

by Rosie Narasaki

I'm just going to say it: Valentino might just be my favorite design house out there. Sure, they have missteps (Claire Danes' illusion-netted beaded dress at the Golden Globes was the designer's most recent fashion uh-oh), but the number of red carpet triumphs they create far outweighs the number of red carpet failures. I mean, Lizzy Caplan at this summer's Critics Choice Television Awards? Valentino. Emma Stone at the Venice Film Festival? Valentino. The most epically Candyland-colored front row in all of fashion week? Valentino, of course. That's all to say that their batting average is almost unmatchably high — and that their newest galaxy-inspired Pre-Fall 2015 runway gowns blow it all out of the water.

Embroidery and beading has always been one of the design houses strongest points (for a refresher on just how beautiful their embroidery can be, look back to Suki Waterhouse at the Elle Women of the Year Awards, or this Zooey Deschanel Elle cover from last year), and this year's show takes it all to an intergalactic level. From mod, stylized constellations and bright yellow moons to delicately whimsical silver and gold stars, this line of dresses constitutes one of the most beautiful runways I've ever seen.

Sure, I'm prone to hyperbole — but take a look at some of the dresses, and you'll know what I'm talking about:

And my personal favorite?
