Dolly & NBC Team Up For An Exciting Series

by Kristie Rohwedder

Stop what you're doing right now. Go oil your cowboy boots, paint acrylic talons bright red, and tease your hair to the moon and back. You're going to want to look your best for this news: According to Deadline, national treasure, living legend, and queen of queens Dolly Parton has teamed up with NBC for a made-for-TV movie series. Friday, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt announced that the network is developing a batch of TV movies with the country music goddess based on “her songs, stories, and inspiring life.” He added that there's a chance Parton, who will serve as a producer, will appear in the series. I'm all about anything that celebrates the singer/songwriter/actress, so duh, I am excited about this. (Also? I'm a sucker for a made-for-TV movie. A TV movie series based on Dolly effin' Parton? Consider me in the palm of its hand.)

Not only is Parton one of the greatest and most important musicians of all time, but she's also arguably one of the most loved celebrities of all time. Show me a person who doesn’t think Parton is a perfect gemstone, and I will promptly show that person both of my middle fingers. Sorry I'm not sorry. There is no one like Dolly Parton, and there will never anyone like Dolly Parton.

She's been inducted into over a dozen Halls of Fame

Some of her HoF honors: Country Music Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.

She's been nominated for 46 Grammys

The only other female artist who's racked up more Grammy noms than Parton? Beyoncé.

She was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2005

This is the highest honor given out by the U.S. government for the arts.

Polly Darton

She inspired a Sesame Street character.

She has her very own theme park

MATT LAUER'S HAIR.

Dolly the sheep

You thought a Sesame Street character was a big deal? The first mammal successfully cloned by scientists was named after Parton.

Elvis Presley almost recorded "I Will Always Love You"

However, due to royalties issues, Parton pulled the plug on the Elvis cover.

The sound of her acrylic nails clicking together inspired "Nine to Five"

And her nails are actually used as an instrument in the song.

She once lost a Dolly lookalike contest

Parton once entered a drag queen lookalike contest. "I just got in the line and I just walked across, and they just thought I was some little short gay guy," she told Nightline. "But I got the least applause."

She's Miley Cyrus's godmother

Miley is so lucky. SO. LUCKY.

Her hugs can cure anything

OK, I made that one up. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was real.
