Ella Henderson Is An Artist to Watch in 2015

by Alex Kritselis

Does the new year have you jonesin' for some new music? Are you tired of hearing the same five songs over and over again on the radio? You're in luck! British newcomer Ella Henderson is here to shake up the U.S. music scene. The 19-year-old vocal powerhouse, who finished in sixth place on X Factor UK in 2012, just released her debut album, Chapter One, in the United States on Jan. 13. The project's lead single, "Ghost," which already topped the U.K. charts, is finally starting to take off stateside. Henderson stopped by the Late Show with David Letterman on Friday last week to promote "Ghost," and her show-stopping performance proves that she's an exciting new artist to watch in 2015.

"Ghost" premiered last April, but thankfully, it still sounds fresh today. The funky, up-tempo track was co-written and produced by OneRepublic front man Ryan Tedder, one of the most talented and sought after hit-makers in the music industry today. Tedder has a history of working well with big-voiced singers (he helped craft songs like "Bleeding Love" for Leona Lewis, "Rumor Has It" for Adele, and "I Was Here" for Beyoncé), so I'd say that he and Henderson are a perfect match! Check out Henderson's Letterman performance below.

Here are some thoughts that you may or may not have had while watching Henderson perform for the first time:

Holy s@#$! She's amazing!

How on Earth is she only 19 years old?

Holy s*&%! She's gorgeous!

Doesn't she kinda look like a blend of Adele and Nurse Jackie actress Merritt Wever?

This song makes me want to SING!

How in the world did she not win X Factor UK in 2012? I'm calling Simon.

This song makes me want to DANCE!

Is it OK if I just start dancing right now?

Yes. It's OK. I promise.

Both "Ghost" and Chapter One are available on iTunes, Amazon MP3, and Spotify now.
