Harry Potter Fans Will LOVE This Engagement Ring

by Erin Mayer

True life: I'm currently reading the Harry Potter series for the very first time at the ripe old age of 23. I know. You're probably wondering how I managed to miss out on having a childhood. Like my fellow Bustle writer Molly Labell, "I didn’t read Harry Potter when it first came out because I was interested in other things." As I got older, I assumed the books were for a younger audience and, frankly, only picked up The Sorcerer's Stone because of peer pressure at the hands of my friends and boyfriend. Needless to say, I'm probably not the target demographic for this Harry Potter Golden Snitch-inspired ring, which, at $145, is for die-hard fans only.

The sterling silver and topaz showpiece is actually rather elegant and doesn't scream "FANDOM!!!!!" at the top of its lungs, so it might be just the thing for an adult Harry devotee. Still, the design, created by Etsy seller Alchemy House Jewellry, clearly recalls the famed Golden Snitch from the book series. It's advertised as an engagement ring on the site, which would obviously be soooo cute and perfect for anyone who loves the J. K. Rowling series as much as they love their significant other.

As with all good things, there are a few brief caveats. Firstly, the ring is now no longer available in sterling silver (but you can still snag it with 14 karat and 18 karat gold bands). Secondly (and sadly), Alchemy House Jewellry is actually on a break due to the Internet popularity of the Golden Snitch ring. Here's a note from the site:

Hello Everyone,Due to the popularity of the Buzzfeed article on my Snitch ring, I have had a huge surge in orders and messages, and I need time to answer all of them.At this point it is looking like the turnover time on the rings will be increased to 4-5 weeks, and I am also not taking rush orders.I will have the shop open again in a few days time. Thank you for your patience.Miranda S.

Nice as it is to see independent retailers finding success, this pretty much dashes all hopes that you'll have this bad boy on your ring finger before Valentine's Day.
